Fleet Pond

The need for a walk, some fresh air, and perhaps a subject for today's Wide Wednesday challenge of "Sky", took me to Fleet Pond, the largest freshwater lake in Hampshire, UK. One of it's uses in the past was as a testing site for hydroplanes by Geoffrey de Havilland, but today is is part of a nature reserve and SSSI (site of special scientific interest).

Frustratingly, the main car park was off-limits due to work on the footpaths, which also meant the circular walk of the pond was also restricted.  However, I was able to park on a local street with access to the walk and managed to walk most of the way round and back.

This is the view looking East across the pond ... very calm apart from a few squabbling ducks.  A grey, cloudy day meant the sky was was as dramatic as I would have liked, but this does reflect the peace and quiet of my day.
