Clowning around - The day of the Child
After a busy morning being shown around town by the cooperantes (Bolivian volunteers) all of the Aldeas SOS volunteers got be clowns! We trekked up to the office to get our costumes, rushed some face paint on, only to be left waiting in the park for an hour for aldeas! It did mean we got to run around and play on the children's play area pretending to be clowns! It was a very comic sight seeing 12 clowns pile into a minibus that then couldnt make it up the hill, but we finally arrived at the park where they were holding a big children's day party! After a lot more waiting around and becoming the prop for one of the photographers there, we were ushered behind the stage to start our dance! Lo and behold the music didn't work, so we were held back another hour to sort it out! We finally got on stage as the big finale act, which was hilarious considering none of us knew what dance we were supposed to be doing! We clowned around and did some silly dancing and all was good, everyone loved us and the finale was a success!
Being a clown was hard work! We left feeling very un-clown like with saw cheeks from smiling all day!!
