Immediately Recognisable

Anyone who owns and maintains a Land Rover will immediately recognise this. It is the handbrake from my Defender 90. It usually lives underneath on the back of the transfer gearbox. Here it fills with water and mud and regularly seizes solid leaving you either with no handbrake or with a handbrake seized on.

Mine was seized on this time. Ian and I took it off last week and dismantled it. It has been soaking in cleaner for 5 days and today we cleaned off the remaining muck, greased it and re-assembled it. Depending on how I feel in the week I might put it, and the propshaft, back on. Then it will be time for an MOT
