Woaah

Woah indeed.

Some kids just need to get to the top of the hill. Even if it ruins your timings, breaks your carry your own stuff rule and needs a hand held the whole way.

Just out of shot, a girl who for reasons far beyond her control, is playing catch up with her peers in every way.

In school, often has words like immature, impulsive, fiery, demanding, unfocused, separate from peers stuck to her . And yes, she can be a handful for a stretched teacher in a busy classroom.

But outside. In her own words "I'm calm here."  The girl I see is kind, determined, helpful, encouraging to peers and trying her best. Anxious and clingy but slowly gaining confidence.

And a real spontaneous amazed "wooaaaah" as we popped over the crest to this view.
Stood on the top, beaming, declaring herself "so proud of myself. I wanted to give up but I.didnt....I'm glad we kept going. Can I have a photo to show Mr D and home? Are you proud of me?"

A girl that bounced into school looking for Mr D, risking missing the taxi, because this news just couldn't wait until tommorow.

Yes. I'm proud of you. And more importantly you're proud of you.
