Special Delivery

My Dear Princess and Dear Friends,

So I was sitting on the couch, anticipating another day working from home when I got the news that two fairly big bits of hardware were expected to be delivered into the office today.

And the only person in the office was Corrie.

So I hopped into the shower and caught the first train into town. And it was great to see Corrie again for the first time in a couple of weeks.

ALSO, being at the office meant that I was just a 10 minute Uber ride away from Ellie's house. So I texted to see how she was doing (rubbish - everything hurts, she's thrown her back out with sneezing and now AJ is positive too) and offered to deliver groceries to her house.

I asked what she wanted. She apologised for her "covid brain" and said she could only think of three things:

- A big thing of laundry detergent
- An actual real barista coffee
- A jar of pickled gherkins

So I winged it and just bought her things I like when I'm sick*. Plus the detergent and the coffee. And the pickles.

I got back a lovely message from her saying I was "Special Delivery Symon" and that the kids had enjoyed unpacking their bags of surprise groceries.

I got back to the office to find there was no update on the hardware delivery. And in fact it didn't show up. At all.

So I could have stayed on the couch all day after all. But on the other hand it was hard to be mad because of Corrie and Ellie.

And pickles.
