Pretend it’s just you and me

I love my wee office.

It’s not that wee truth be told, this is the far end; my relaxation corner. This is where people come in to chat to me. Am not HR they just come in for a moan and a chat.

The other end is the business end. My desks, my monitors and papers.

I was thinking back today; I still remember finding an email in my box saying my CV on line had matched with this job and was I interested?

I emailed back and had a two and a half our chat with the big boss. Two days later I had a three hour interview face to face with him.

Two days later they offered me £9k more than I was currently on. I handed my notice in, and my current job offered to put my salary above whatever they had offered. They said ‘Better the devil you know’.

I thought about the miserable face who sat opposite and frequently told me ‘you aren’t paid to be nice’, and said ‘not always’

Back then, there were five and a half of us in the UK, three in the US.

We grew quickly - today, there are offices in Glasgow, Prestwick, Edinburgh, Leeds, Derby, Dubai, Delhi with almost 100 staff.

Quite astonishing - and this is the longest I’ve stayed in one job

OMG I FORGOT TO TELL YOU. FOUR AM FOR BEAU AND FIVE FIFTEEN FOR BEAN
