The Burrell
The best sort of Glasgow day today. A final recce for Thursday’s walk along the Allander and Kelvin River pathways which are now almost without mud, although a lot more rubbish along the banks. I was back in the centre of town by 2 (after a very satisfactory purchase in one of the West End’s charity shops – Brookes running shoes barely worn which has sorted my foot wear dilemma for the Camino, these are light enough to put in my backpack as an emergency alternative, and grippy, unlike my own which have all but lost their tread) and home by 3 with plenty of time to visit The Burrell.
And it was just stunning and so merits today’s blip, eclipsing the swans on the Kelvin and the deer in Balmuildy Woods. As I arrived an elderly gentlemen was exiting noticeably moved by what he had seen, which he shared with me. I too felt something similar.
The blip is of course the Figure of a Luohan sitting in arboreal splendour. I ran out of time and intend to go back later in the week, late afternoon is certainly a very good time. This could keep me going in blips for the rest of the year, I cannot believe that this extraordinary place is less then 10 minutes walk away.
