Ophrys sphegodes, Early Spider Orchid

Firstly, thanks for the good wishes for David. He has made a full recovery and been moved to a normal ward now, phew! We are hoping he will be out of hospital in the next two days, maybe even tomorrow.

Our village is famous for its wild orchids and here is the first type, already well developed after two weeks of sunshine on the southern pastures. Two extras to show you their exquisite details. These are a protected species and people come great distances to see them. The rain is coming tomorrow for several days so I was glad to see at least 60 of these today!
