Ebony floor

I heard today that the carpet covering the ebony floor was to be lifted so I went down for one last look at the splendid, unique, double dovetailed floor. Years ago, before the then powers that be decided to cover it with carpet, it was dusted daily and polished weekly; it looked amazing! Not to be however, they have decided to clean off the hardwood that was underneath and lay the eyemats on top. No last look at the whole floor, just the edges here, that have not been polished in a good long while!
