Started and finished the 11th book of my charity Bookworm Challenge today; And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie. Very much enjoyed it, though the epilogue confessional left a bit to be desired, wrapped everything in too neat of a bow for me.
It strikes me that I keep posting the donation link to my fundraiser in the hopes of garnering some donations without really explaining why they're important. BCHC Charity is the official NHS charity for Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, aiming to improve patient experience, enhance care, and support staff. Over my almost 5yrs with the charity, we've provided a therapeutic playground & adapted play equipment at the West Midlands Rehab Centre for children with prostheics to practice using new limbs. We've purchased a cuddle bed so that patients in end of life care can safely cosy up with their loved ones like they would at home. We've taken children in end of life care with their families to pantomimes, boat trips and other days out to help them make lasting, beautiful memories together. During the pandemic, we've provided hundreds of TVs, DVD players, CD players and radios for inpatients, so even if they are quarantined they can enjoy music, films and TV shows. We've provided pyjamas, loungewear and extra toiletries for folks who weren't able to have family bring in their own things due to COVID, preserving their dignity and offering home comforts. We've provided wellbeing items like hand cream, lip balm and snacks for staff, alongside Schwartz Rounds support sessions and the hire of a Project Wingman wellbeing bus to help boost staff morale. We've renovated garden areas, installed beautiful indoor murals, funded sensory equipment, provided communication aids for brain injury rehab teams, created activity packs to help patients with learning disabilities deal with lockdown... And this is just a handful of the stuff we've done, and I'm so proud to work with and fundraise for such wonderful initiatives.
