It was a fine morning for the Park Run this morning and, with the ground drier, more people turned out than of late. Tess found herself walking with a visitor from Oxford, passing through on the way for a few days in Cornwall with his wife. 

Osteoporosis prevents him from running but he was very tall and can still walk pretty fast as Tess can testify: she had to trot at times to keep up with him and knocked nearly 8 minutes off her best ‘walking’ time as a result! I managed to be quicker than last week too, by a less impressive margin.

Chris tested negative today so was free to join me at Huish Park for this afternoon’s game against Southend. It was played in memory of our former captain, Lee Collins, who tragically took his own life a year ago following a battle with depression. His 3 young daughters were mascots at today’s game and a wreath in the shape of the no 4, the shirt number he always wore, was laid behind the goal before the game.

As fate would have it, we opened the scoring in the 4th minute and added a second 4 minutes later. Despite spurning several chances to add to the score we held on comfortably for a 2-0 win, our third win in a row. Too much to hope for a 4th next week?
