Spread the wealth... ..

Another dry and sunny day,but it must be the weekend as everything went pear shaped
Went to feed the outside cows to be greeted with 2 cows and 2 newborn calves ,neither of which had sucked. So grabbed Kev to help bring them in before he went home as both mummy's are right nasty cows when they calve.
So milked out the first cow, stomach tubed the calf as it wouldn't suck and put them in a pen . Put the second cow up the crush and she had no milk so had a feel inside her and she hasn't calved yet, just stolen the calf from what I'm presuming is a set of twins from the first cow. So shut her in a different shed, fed the second calf powdered milk and put it in with its twin. Mummy spent a while shoving the gate about trying to get at me too !
The contractor on seeding barley down the road,so I bit the bullet and spread a couple of loads of fert on some grass fields next door. I felt physically sick at the thought of how much each load cost. I would have been as well filling the spreader with £20 notes and chucking them about. Nitrogen which was in the mid £250s a ton last May is now nearly £1000 . Blame gas prices,Putin for starting a war or just plain profiteering. All I know is that these costs are not sustainable in the long run.
Hey ho..........
