Gloucestershire Bird Tour

Every morning we visited Nagshead Nature reserve in the hope of seeing the lesser spotted woodpecker. These birds are rare, and we didn't get to see one, but we did see many greater spotted woodpeckers. It was lovely to stand in the woods listening to the birds drumming.

The woodpeckers were frisky and darted from tree to tree.  In the circumstances, it was difficult to get a decent shot, but I did the best I could.

Update: I've swapped my photos around,  and the extra is now my main picture. Although it is a bit messy and not particularly sharp, it is more dynamic and tells the story.
