Sally Mair - Loving life

Magnolia

Clocks forward tonight, an hour less sleep-
Shouldn't be allowed on Mothering Sunday!... and another reminder of Ruth. :-(

Saturday today and despite expectations and rumours of gloom another lovely warm day In fact the barometer is still very high as I wrote this at 9pm.
I started the day with a success when I got an email from Virgin to say they were coming out on Monday to work out what was wrong with our TV service, its not major but it is irritating. I'm delighted we're going to see a real person! I'll ask him to tune the controller for us as well as in spite of following the instructions to the letter (and again today when they were repeated over the phone) I can't get the replacement handset to control the TV.
I phoned a physio this morning on the recommendation of my son in law so I've an appointment on Wednesday afternoon about my calf /knee. Fingers crossed.
I went out into the garden and cut back the dead branches on the flowering currant this morning then finished off the last bit of weeding in the front terrace. Round to the back and I potted up a hellebore which I bought in Homebase the other day, Maestro variety, reduced from £18 to £5. It looks good and healthy now I've cut off all the dead bits, I do like a bargain. I also went round and took some pictures of some of the varieties of narcissus and daffodils I have. Some I can name but not all. My main blip is our magnolia just about to burst into full bloom. I thought I'd better blip it in case the promised cold snap spoils the blooms - although it's pretty resilient. It's looking magnificent

This afternoon, Colin and I went out to Hopetoun, mainly for a cup of tea outside, without too much walking for me. The garden centre was very quiet and we ended up with a nice seat outside in the sunshine.
We paid a visit to the Gyle on tree way home having decided we would have an easy (instant) dinner tonight and ended up with a gastropub duck a l'orange. I was really looking forward to it, however when the time came, we decided we needed even more instant nourishment and bought fish and chips. The duck lives to quack another day, lol!
We watched another episode, the penultimate I think, of The Promise, thoroughly enjoying it but I don't see how it is going to wind up in just one more episode.
My tags tell me that this is the end of the servings year since we went into Lockdown. I thing I've missed a couple of numbers somewhere, as the official anniversary was earlier this week and we actually went into solitude the week before. So my anniversary should have been around 10 days ago. I think it's time to stop counting though and get on with things.
Stay safe and well folks and those of you who do have the bug, I hope it passes lightly and quickly.
Thanks for your concern btw, Isobel is much better today.
