Thug!

This rose, inherited from the previous owner of this house and garden is a thug!  I've been painting the fence behind it and the thorns, sharper and stronger than I imagined possible in a plant, were a real menace, catching my hand or arm in a moment's inattention with brush or spray.

Unfortunately, I'm not confident that two coats of paint has been enough (grey covering a horrible brown) so I might have to be brave and go among the thorns again.
