Took several trams across the city today to visit my friends Katie and Marina and their son Archie. I met Katie 22years ago when she was my mums lodger. She and I got along instantly and ended up travelling around Italy together one summer. We have seen each other every few years and we fall straight back into that groove of old friends. Part of the appeal of spending the easter holidays in Australia was to spend the first half catching up with Katie again. So today after tea and gossip and the children having a 'penny' board lesson from Archie we went to Melbourne zoo which is literally just across the park from where they live.
The zoo was fabulous. Hugely interactive and with a great range of animals in appropriate settings.
Late back to the hotel. Then pizza and beers on Fitzroy listening to a brilliant female vocalist.
