Chunnelling
We decided on one last day trip out before my brother has to go back to work so we headed back to Broadstairs for another quick blast of sea air.
The weather was again gloriously sunny but also quite hazy - or as we like to call it haysi fantayzee (named after a band from the early 80's who had a bit of a one hit wonder with a song gloriously entitled John Wayne Is Big Leggy!). Sorry went a bit off piste there!
The town was still very quiet as it was a Monday in March and most of the shops and businesses were still closed. We had a lovely walk along the beach and then out along the promenade until I decided it was a good idea to step back on the sand to get a shot just as a fairly large wave came in. I got soaked right up to my knees and as I was only wearing trainers my feet were completely drenched too - and after all that the shot was terrible anyway. We then had to sit in a sunny spot for a while until I'd dried out a little.
Although it was so bright the light was still very hazy so it was actually quite difficult to get a good image - but I was rescued somewhat by this digger appearing on the beach as it moved sand from one area of the shoreline to another. I like the juxtaposition between the digger and the two storey holiday chalets in the background.
By now we were quite hungry so we walked back into town to get some chips (my extra is of the outside of the fish and chip shop - I loved the murals on the shopfront) and then returned to the beach to eat them so we could have one last look out to sea.
