Children with Autism prefer to self-isolate

I may spend the majority of my day(s) and time by myself and yes, by choice but I also really enjoy having my friend Nathan round at my house to play with. We play together in my Quiet Room on the Wii and outside on my Trampoline too.

When I am not plating with Nathan and no longer want to be on my own, I play games with Mom or Dad and sometimes my big sister Dana. We play Lego games, eye spy, dance on the Wii or go and play football in the garden together.

I have many friends at school whom I play with every break time.
Granted, it has taken me a very long time to LEARN how to be sociable. By that, I mean being taught what to do in social situations, ie: going up to someone and asking if I can join in with their game or asking if they will play with me. And also how to calmly walk away when they say no instead of getting upset and angry.

And, when everybody else is busy or I want to do something different, I use my excellent imagination and my favourite toys come to life and we go off on adventures.

Today was one of those days. Me, Mario and Luigi all went on an adventure in the garden and played on the Trampoline as well. It was great fun as we bounced so high we bounced right up to the sky, through the clouds and right into another world. We all ate some mushrooms that made us big, rode on the back of a green dinosaur named Yoshi and picked flowers that gave us fire power to defeat Bowser and rescued Princess Peach.

We were pretty tired by the time we got back and Mom made us some Tuna Mayo sandwiches with Ham and Chicken slices and a nice warm cup of Coffee. I told Mom all about our adventures and she said all she'd done was two lots of washing and drying!! - I think she needs to learn how to use her imagination then she could have some cool adventures too!!!
