The Taming of the Shrew
I went to the Lowry with Carole to see The Taming of the Shrew this afternoon. It was absolutely brilliant, it was performed by Propeller, an all male Shakespeare Company. I haven't read this play but it didn't matter because they brought the whole play to life with a seamless production that had us laughing out loud.
During the interval we were suddenly aware of music so we followed the sound and the whole cast were walking through the foyer singing. I grabbed my camera as they sang My Brown eyed Girl. The light was poor and this isn't the best pic but it encapsulates the wonderful time we had and the enthusiasm of these guys.
It was hilarious when the man who was Petruchio came on stage for his marriage scene in a stetson, cowboy jacket and a posing pouch....and a very nice bottom he had too! Sadly he had his trousers back on when I took this pic.
What a fabulous afternoon.
