Light The Way

The RV next to us has an outside light on the side away from it's door.  The only way it could be useful to the neighbors is if they go outside and walk around to the service side of their RV. (Something almost never done after dark.)
     It shines in our window but the shades do the job to cancel it.  
     But I still can't figure why it is a factory installed light, and what it's originally designed for.
