Back again, two years on.

National Day of Reflection 2022.

Two years ago we came here. It was the day life changed as we knew it. The first cases of Coronavirus had been detected in Scotland a few days previously; by now we were into the routine of looking for quiet places. That day we sat on a bench along the way, and listened to the First Minister on the radio; it was to be our last outing, beyond immediate home vicinity, for many weeks. Lockdown was confirmed that evening.

It was nice to walk here again this late afternoon. The wild garlic was as vibrant as before, it as quiet as then too. We talked of our last two years, family tales and memories, and societal implications.

I read some things and caught a few of the pieces on Reflection, including the minute silence from Holyrood.

By coincidence our older son returned to his office today, hybrid working has recently started. Two years and more working from home in his case.

My wife did a bit more in the garden today, to good effect. We’d lunch outside, first time this year.

Family FaceTime; short conversation regarding today.
