Manic (Mono) Monday

I’ve been in my office all day.

The ante has been well and truly upped, with Linda asking me to make a start on the compliance side of my job. (I did remind her it was only my second week in the job!)

Policies are a whole new world for me and although I was trying to maintain a sense of composure on the outside, inside my brain was a little dramaqueen screaming ‘whaaaaaaaatthefuuuuuuuu….?!’

My worst nightmare was finding that my predecessor had only done half a job. Where the hell do you start???

The best thing for me was being left alone to process things and formulate my best approach, although the girls did pop in at regular intervals to make sure I was still awake alive ok and bring me fresh brews.

By the end of today, I’d worked my way though a very long list of policies and am feeling much better than I was at 9am.
There’s still much to do, but I think I understand it a little more now and there are some fairly obvious gaps that need filling in. Well, it’s still dentistry after all ;-)
