Burns unit
Two days ago a hot water bottle burst on my stomach, I have second-degree burns and I’ve lost an area of skin about the size of a 7 inch single off my belly and midriff.
Today my wonderful friend Kate drove me to Chelsea and Westminster Burns unit where my other wonderful friend Lee is the head of nursing, he was working today so we messaged him and he escorted us up to the Burns unit and chatted to me which was very reassuring, he also organise a parking pass for Kate, my friends are amazing! Kate bought me lunch afterwards at the hospital, the hospital is really nice.
I had a lovely nurse called Rachel who cleaned my wound and removed more skin, not pleasant but not too bad. I now have a state of the art silver dressing stuck down with tape all the way around rather than having bandages all the way around my torso. I will have to go back on Monday to have it redone. My thumb is healing very nicely and didn’t need any more attention.
I felt rather glum this afternoon. I just seem to have had one thing after another for quite some time going wrong physically, anyway as my friend Rita Campbell who I had a chat with today pointed out it could be much worse LOL!
Good news is that Granny Gill has had a successful operation on her broken arm and Max was able to visit her today, she was in good spirits and he took her lots of tasty snacks.
Unfortunately someone on the ward has tested positive for Covid so there will be no more visiting allowed for the time being.
The boys both have their girlfriends here, everybody seems quite jolly which is always nice. I’ve been told to eat lots of quality protein and keep hydrated, my stomach is very swollen and I’ve been quite uncomfortable today but it’s quite a new injury.
