Repetition

We are coming up to the 2nd anniversary of the UK Lockdown (March 24th was the first lockdown day in 2020) and I’ve been looking at my blips from then. The run up through March that year makes interesting reading. There seems to be a general view out there that things are getting back to normal, that the pandemic is over, but that’s definitely not the space we’re in. Government figures are now completely misleading (deliberately so it seems), the Zoe and ONS stat’s are the ones to rely on and it’s clear infection rates are rising from a high plateau - 1in 24 people currently have Covid, which explains why we keep hearing of people who are getting infected. We would love to do some of the things we used to do, but infection prevalence and transmissibility means we have to continue to be very careful.

Things always seem to happen in March, providing a counter to the uplift in spirits as Spring really starts to progress. This year it is Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. I am looking forward to Spring as it rolls forward (it’s my favourite season) but the background of world events does put a real damper on things. Let’s hope that calm heads will prevail and a way will be found out of the man-made imbroglio and mess. Although there can be no trust of Russia whilst Putin leads it.

And finally, today’s abstract theme of repetition. I had a notification from Blipfoto yesterday that I’ve got another blip milestone coming up. What started as a New Years resolution to take a photo every day for a year (a seemingly repetitive process) has now been going on for rather a long time. And looking back, it’s not been about repetition at all, but variety. Which is why I’ve continued with the blip habit. Thanks to Ingeborg for hosting todays abstract challenge.
