Male Paradise Shelduck

We have had a lot of native water birds brought to us over the past 5-6 weeks suffering from Botulism. It is a nasty bacterial infection found in water with low oxygen levels. It creates neuro- toxins which paralyse birds who have ingested it. We have had success with the beauties. We give them lots of fluids, then slowly feed them and get them waterproof. Then we release them. It’s a late summer thing. This fellow is enjoying a quiet swim.
