March hedgerow

I went along the road to photograph the blackthorn blossom, which is just opening in the hedgerow. I love the tiny, delicate flowers and crisp, yellow-tipped stamens. However, the light was poor and I struggled to frame little groups of flowers to my satisfaction, so they have been relegated to the extras; I prefer the bright colours of last autumn's hawthorn berries, still hanging on as new leaf buds start to form and contrasting nicely with the bright grass in the field and the ochre and grey lichens. I was also struck by the tattered oak leaves on a young tree, losing their form but still dangling precariously from wind-blown twigs.
