Deer fodder
More preparations for the Spring Clean this morning - a never-ending list of things to do, talking to the council, Oban Mountain Rescue, various KOB folk.
After lunch I spent some time in the garden, planting three Lithodora diffusa 'Heavenly Blue' on the bank above the house. Should trail nicely over the edge. Even here I need a ladder, or lie head down from the bank above!
I then planted a Hydrangea anomala subsp. petiolaris on a maple down near the road where it will climb the trunk, I hope.
It was then that I noticed my beautiful witch hazel, planted just a year ago, has been trashed by the deer, breaking off two of the three stems. It cost a fortune too! I rigged up some protection, but stable doors come to mind!
