Road works

This stretch of road in the neighbourhood has been under some works for a looong time now. The only indication of it has been these warning signings, I've never seen any workers here doing any work.

Last few days, the manhole has been making a loud noise and today someone has moved one of the warning signs on top of it. Back in India, it's a common sight to find small plants kept as warning signs in potholes on the road, by the locals. Got reminded of those :)

Growing up, I believed that life in developed countries was perfect. That such things would never happen, problems would be fixed without delay.

A few years back, at a hostel in Iceland, I came across this quote:

'To travel is to discover everyone is wrong about other countries'

Today was a funny reminder of that quote once more.
