Hush in the Bullrushes

Bulrush is a sturdy, imposing plant growing in solitary stems up to 3m tall.
The stems are sheathed by narrow sword shaped leaves, which usually emerge from below the water level.
Its distinctive flower spikes are composed of tiny densely packed flowers in conspicuous sausage-shaped 18-30 mm spikes. These explode releasing around a quarter of a million plumed seeds to be dispersed on the wind.
Bulrush grows in the shallow waters of fens and in silted up bog holes.
So there!

Out topping up my 5x50 on the bike tonight. Threw the camera around my neck with the prime lens on....
