Red eye
The Noisy Friarbird is a large honeyeater. Its head is bare of feathers and it has a large knob above the bill. It's sometimes called Leatherhead, for obvious reasons. This pair were feeding noisily this evening in an Umbrella Tree in the Lake Ainsworth heathland.
Umbrella Trees are native to North Queensland and Papua New Guinea. They are a common garden and indoor plant and, given half a chance, invade native bushland. The Friarbirds seemed to be enjoying the fruit.
