At Music Hall
Friday March 11
It was a sunny, mild morning, and we decided it would be a good time to go looking at bikes, to replace mine that got stolen on our way to Florida last month. We tried three different shops, but finally ended back at the first one, and ordered a Trek bike - they didn’t have the model we wanted in my size. The assistant was very helpful and knowledgeable, and of course Roger had done some research first, and understands the technical things better than I do! All being well it should be delivered in about 10 days, although the assistant was fairly confident it will probably be less than that.
We enjoyed a good concert at Cincinnati Music Hall this evening. Snow had started to fall about an hour before we left, but fortunately since the roads and pathways were relatively warm, it was really only sticking to the grass and trees, so we had no problem getting down there. The first piece was a modern piece, a violin concerto by Missy Mazzoli, in fact it had its premiere only a couple of weeks ago. I’m not a great fan of modern classical music in general, but this wasn’t bad. However, it was the second half of the program that I really wanted to hear, Mozart’s Mass, with the May Festival Chorus, the first time they had been back in Music Hall since before the pandemic, and in fact they were still wearing masks, but it was amazing the sound and diction they produced despite wearing masks! Audience members still had to show proof of vaccination and wear masks, but that is about to change as of Monday. It was still snowing when we left, but very fine flakes, so not accumulating very rapidly.
