Driftwood

We have come away for a short break to Northumberland. Drove up this morning in glorious sunshine and stopped for lunch in Alnwick….at a pub called ‘The Dirty Bottles’! Despite the name, the food was fabulous - and plentiful. On our way north from there to our accommodation in Embleton we stopped at Alnmouth for a walk…and the weather turned squally as as we set foot on the sand! We got a little wet and sandblasted! I managed to get a shot of this driftwood and you can see the scouring effect of the wind underneath the log.

We had been hoping we might get a chance to see the Northern Lights tonight as there is plenty of solar activity at the moment….but it is still ‘persisting down’ outside so we will be staying put with our gin and beer and chocolate supplies!
