Spring Preserve

The rhubarb at my allotment has grown. I’ve had a few forcing chambers (old terracotta pots) set up for several weeks and yesterday I picked our first bunch of forced rhubarb for the season. It’s bright pick stems are such a joy.

I’m now wondering whether to make rhubarb jam this spring but I’m not sure on a recipe, especially one that will make the jam set.

The day has been one of washing, cleaning, dog walking, baking, gardening and massaging. I’m now feeling ready for a rest so I’m bathing and going to bed to read.
