Pietons ...

....  French for pedestrians, on our Paris street (Rue des Peupliers). The fenced-in structures continue to the bottom of the street (and beyond), surrounding  trenches for a new gas line (as I've mentioned before).  Three cars are coming up the narrow street.  Pedestrians can in fact walk on sidewalks (in-and-out at times) the entire way on both sides.

The trenches  have been there since we arrived five weeks ago. They've been recently refilled, so the whole job may be finished before too long (I'll keep you posted :)  A sliver of our building is visible at the right edge of the image.
