Times gone by.....

I've not been feeling too well today, and that combined with the 'showers' that were forcast which were really long spells of rain with brief patches of sunshine, ment I had little time to find a decent blip.
I did however have to take my husband to Shalford station (near Guidford) to see the Orient express as it passed through....
So, today's blip is the Orient express (pulled by Merchant Navy 'Clan Line') leaving Shalford station in a haze of steam and smoke, passing a modern 168 diesel multiple unit arriving.
I mused for a moment on how far we had come in the last 50 or so years, but then looking at the steam and the romance of it all I wondered if we have actually moved forward at all ?
