Excuse me

I was a couple of minutes late arriving to my new job on Wednesday, so I was determined to be early today.

I set an earlier alarm and left the house at 7.30am, thinking I’d be there 15 minutes early so I could open up, switch on and have the morning coffees ready to go.

However, the M65 had other ideas! A nasty crash closed the motorway and it took me almost half an hour to go 3 miles. I ended up having to double back on myself and take a different route that had its own disruptions along the way.
It ended up taking me an hour and fifteen minutes to get to work, so instead of being 15 minutes early, I was 15 minutes late.

They were fine about it but it really annoyed me as I hate being late for anything. I’m hoping it won’t be a regular occurrence. I’d forgotten that when I worked there last, it was at the height of the pandemic, so most people were still working from home which meant much less traffic on the roads.

It was another busy day and I was so engrossed in my work that I had to double check the time when the clock read 13:44. We finish at 2:30 on Fridays so I couldn’t believe where the time had gone!

The journey home was much less fraught but I arrived to the news that my request to be excused from jury service has been declined. Bugger.
I can defer it, so I plan to give them a few dates much later on in the year. At this moment in time, I don’t want to break the momentum of what I’m learning and doing.
Plus the fact that I don’t think I will use my full holiday entitlement this year, so I can book some (all?) of my time on jury service as a holiday so that I still earn a wage.

Todays blip is our lovely clinic. My office is the first floor window that juts out (between the two atriums) and has a lovely view of the marina :-)

Thank you for all the recent comments, hearts and stars x
