A Day Of Surprises

It started out completely overcast and for a little while I thought it would pour down, we tried the walk anyway and only got sprinkled on which was really nice as it was warm and humid.

I thought The Swans might be out and about doing something fabulous but no, they were laying low in the shadows.

Further on I discovered a bird of a different nature. This is what I've always called a Bird Of Paradise flower but I have no idea if that is its correct name. This one is very beautiful and it seemed almost unreal because it was so perfect.

Work was very busy this morning until around 11am when all the power in the whole district went off. We had a thought that it was because of the rain and that maybe there had been an accident and someone had knocked down a pole.

I saw online later that a crew of workers had accidentally drilled into a big and very important cable and killed the power to thousands of homes and business's and we were off for about 2 hours, but there were other unlucky ones that were still off tonight.

It has rained all day, not terribly heavy rain just steady and light and so wonderful to smell it and to feel the cooler air coming through.

It is from the remnants of cyclone Victoria which was up north and has now petered out and the clouds from it are streaming out sweeping almost right across the country. It was certainly an interesting day.
