Another Friday, another Pub Portrait of the guys who've kept me company on a Friday year after year.

So, where to begin. Ste is 11 years older than me, the youngest of the olds.

Possibly a golfer as bad as me, even though he's a much better really his swing is so short it looks like he's never watched it on the telly. At least I look like I know what the game could be.

He's also a car enthusiast, famously owning 3 Ford Capris. The third was also the first, but he bought it back for more than he sold it.

He once sent me a picture of a music festival that he was at, saying where are we? I replied Dent, as I was also there and had already taken a picture of a pea green Skoda Octavia parked outside the Sun Inn wondering WHO ELSE had bought a car this colour....

Ste's been a great supporter of our band over 30 years, and has often said How Hard Can It Be?, when we have discussed issues in learning songs.

When he hit 60, we let him learn and play bass on a few songs at his own party as...how hard can it be?

A stalwart of the NHS, a gardener, a lay preacher, and many other things between, Ste has always had an energy that most of us don't.

He's also is, when required, a terrific speaker. One funeral comes to mind where he did the impossible.

I haven't mentioned his sartorial elegance.
