Solace Day 5 - Morning

This has been a great week for good March weather compared to when we set out a few years ago during the Beast From The East Snow Storm.

This was the scene as I drew the curtains this morning near Bridge 56.

We thought we had time in hand to turn right at Fazeley junction onto the Coventry canal but at the first lock we couldn't get the bottom gates closed so we couldn't fill it. After poking with a long pole at the silt beside the gates, another elderly boater came along and ran, charging at the gate beam and it slammed shut.

We were on our way again. Onwards and upwards!

The Man did some polishing of the mushrooms (roof ventilators) they proved difficult after tarnishing the whole of the winter. We are the first to use the boat this year.
