Irish?

My German accent is not very German.
I've been mistaken for various nationalities, but English is never the first go to.  Today was no exception. 
At the recyclinghof (tip) I was asked what stuff I had in my car, this is so that you can be told which container to use and they know what (if anything) to charge you.  I told him...blah blah blah, pointing at the random blahs crammed into the back of my Mini. 
Then he rounds it all off with, "Irish?"
Me "....heh*?"

Now adding Irish to the growing list of countries I've been accused of coming from.


* did I mention how although my accent is rubbish, my actual grasp of the language is perfect...
