Clasped

Today ended with sunshine and warmth but started out with rain. Lots of it.

I went outside this morning to take photos of the rain on the red leaves of the flowering cherry trees but the tiny drips sparkling in the lichen on their trunks drew my attention.

I love the way each drip looks like a crystal ball clasped by bony fingers. Can't decide if they're dragons claws or witches paws.

It's funny - to look at, this lichen is blue/grey and yet all I've done to the colour here is desaturate because it came out quite a bright orangey colour. Must be the colour behind it coming through.
