MONARCH ( danaus plexipus )

This is an amazing phenomona which I have seen before - but not for a few years. Strangely its in the same suburb of Opawa - last time it was in the trees at a public reserve, today its in the grounds of a private wedding venue about a kilometre away. Hundreds of Monarchs just hanging - yesterday in the sun they were flying but it was overcast today and they were just sitting around. The last time I saw it they wintered over - someone cleverer than me will be able to say what they are doing - maybe migrating?? - lets hope they survive long enough to breed again !! great sight !!
