Commute

Jerro - Are You There (Falden Remix)

Another long commute today. Reading and learning out the window so see the long stretches of fields and mountains. I ponder what people pondered when travelling for weeks along the same track I did today for 3 hours. Was purpose and resolution of one’s own existence more resolute? Was there less room to complain about the neglect of society’s responsibility of our upbringing (Woah! Where did that come from?!?)?

I’d imagine that the aggression which has SUCH a short fuse these days, gets tempered and quelled with philosophical philandering when gazing at the greater world outside of the echo chamber with your phone. Ironically, I’m writing this on my phone right now. Hopefully I can clean my mental garden and not give in to the cheap dopamine thrills of sns up keeping.

With that in mind, I’ve come to the conclusion that people in the past certainly were more mentally resolute during their long journeys as there was nothing else but yourself and the road. People met along the way were true chapters in stories and not TikToks or “posts”.
