Absent friend

On the big screen is the boss of FM Global Drama who has set up this conference we’re all attending in Rome.  He thought how to make it really valuable in terms of discussion and information sharing, and convivial in terms of booking lovely restaurants for us to meet up and reconnect with our international colleagues.   Then in the routine test demanded by Italy before we go into a venue together he tested positive for Covid so couldn’t  attend.  He was so disappointed.We all were.  I think leaving aside the more extremes of emotion over this pandemic ‘disappointment’ has been a prevailing mood. 

Sorry Christian but dinner tonight was absolutely lovely.  I sat with some old friends, a British director I last worked with 30 years ago and a head of a US network and a German and Danish producer.
