International Women’s Day
As it’s International Women’s Day it seems appropriate to share Licoricia of Winchester. She was a Jewish-English moneylender. She has been described by historian Robert Stacey as "the most important Jewish woman in medieval England". She died in Winchester in 1277.
Her statue is outside the newly opened ARC, previously the library.
She was due to be unveiled by Prince Charles but he had Covid. She was unveiled as planned but he has been back since to officially unveil her.
