LONGSHORE DRIFT

Not quite as obvious in the picture as in real time . . .Longshore Drifting affects much of the East Coast.
These wooden groynes help to stop the erosion of sand caused by the drifting effect of the sea.
Extra shows Sleaford East . . . the Signalbox is a mock-up as the real one was much bigger. A huge collection of Semaphore Signals and Aspect Signals on display in this isolated spot in East Yorkshire . . . signals SE19 and SE20 prominent.  This spot is 80 miles from Sleaford. At the time, Sleaford Junction was so huge that it managed 4 Signal Boxes . . . Sleaford North, Sleaford South, Sleaford West and . . . you guessed it . .
