Stand Firm

This morning at FBC, we were grateful that we are free to worship and come together as a church body to join our hearts and voices in praise to God.  We were grateful that we were privileged to witness the baptism of one of the young people who has grown up in our church and is now publicly declaring that he has accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior and he is not ashamed of the Gospel.  After more time of praise, Pastor Wes took us back into Philippians 3:15-21, but he started his sermon with a look at verse 1 of chapter 4, telling us that we are to stand firm in the Lord.  Then he went back to the last verses of chapter 3 starting with verse 15 to explain how we are to do that.  He said that in order to stand firm, we must hold to the right attitude (an attitude of maturity), heed the conviction of the Holy Spirit when He shows us things in our lives that are "off" and need changing, walk in accordance to what we have obtained from the Word (by reading and studying it), wisely choose who we imitate and admire, and eagerly anticipate  Christ's return.  Pastor Wes said it all better than I just did and you can find out why he structured his sermon the way he did, if you watch the livestream.  It will be time well spent.  I know that I enjoyed being there in person and watching the livestream again just now.  Hope to see you next Sunday---don't forget it will be time change, so set your clocks forward an hour!
