Blue and yellow

It was a lovely day - went up to the allotment to do a bit of grubbing and finally remembered to plant the oca. Strange stuff, have never managed to grow enough for a 'serving', but the plants are quite pretty. 'Shamrock-style' leaves..... oca , that is.  Cabbagetree said that she gave up on them as she found them too sweet, whereas I couldn't really detect them tasting of anything at all! On my way home I happened to see D on her allotment at the Links and was able to offload the rest of the oca tubers (which had been headed for the food waste bin). Zero waste!

While I was working this blue tit was sitting at the top of the bush tweeting insistently - no other birds were visible or audible. It may have been a warning call, but seeing as how blue tits are quite feisty and seem to be completely fearless he's probably saying "Come and have a go if you think you're hard enough."

His blue and yellow plumage is very appropriate at the moment.
