The King`s car
A Packard 1942 mod. which same year was bought in the US for our King Haakon VII, at the time when he and the Norwegian government ruled as best as they could the occupied Norway, in exile from London. The Packard came to Norway when the King returned June the 7th 1945, after 5 years in London. It has since then been used until recently at special events by the castle. Today I saw it at the castle`s car exhibition. I was wondering how they in 1942 could be so sure the allies would win the war, to order this car. The same year as it was prepared for the Royal English family to escape from England for a royal residential area near to Corner Brook on Newfoundland….in case the Germans should come across the channel.
