Rock Slab.

This is an early morning view of Grange bridge.  Grange is a village in the Borrowdale Valley.  Behind the bridge you can see Castle Crag.  I have seen the rock slab used by kayakers to launch into the Derwent when the river is a little higher  than it is here.  Hope you can see the smoke curling skywards from the cottage on the right and the early morning sun on the Crag.  The bridge is narrow, slightly wider than a car's width, and has places along it for people to stand if a car comes along. However, this bridge is regarded as a packhorse bridge.  Other packhorse bridges are narrower still, allowing a string of horses to walk across without their packs getting caught on the sides. The bridge was built in 1675.
